Delroy Williams launches ‘One Room Shack”

Former president of the National Youth Council Delroy Williams, a son of the soil has launched his first book of poetry entitled “One Room Shack” reminiscent of his humble nature and upbringing.Williams who remembers writing as early as his childhood days says he realizes that he can make a meaningful contribution to society through his writing hence the publication of “One Room Shack”.The writer told Brenton Henry during a special interview at Saturday’s launching that as a young boy he dreamt of becoming a doctor. That dream changed as he grew up and realized that he wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the country hence his employment with the Division of Agriculture.According to Williams he sees the agricultural sector as the driving force of the economy and so enjoys working with farmers across the island.Here are a few photographs of the launching ceremony on Saturday: [nggallery id=94]The poetry pieces featured in the book speak to several areas of concern within our society; poverty, neglect of children, poverty and of hope.Mr Williams explained that “mansions and earthly wealth” are not important to him, rather his goal is to assist people as much as he can.
